Research Project: Health care collaboration with other disciplines to build assistive technologies & businesses
Description: This research will examine the effectiveness of a multidisciplinary collaboration between the School of Nursing and the College of Engineering and Science. For the past 7 years teams of engineering students and nursing students have worked with someone with physical disabilities (many of them are veterans). The multidisciplinary teams design, build and produce a unique assistive device for the client. Partnerships also include biomedical students from other universities like Lawrence Technological Institute and Baylor University. This research project will study client satisfaction with the program, student outcomes, and societal impact of the program. Publications, presentations and opportunities to write grant proposals are expected.
